In response to the conflict occasioned by activities of non-state armed groups in the northeast of Nigeria, which has led to large-scale displacement and a major humanitarian emergency, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in partnership with Centre for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN) continues to provide several lifesaving interventions, via the General food distribution (GFD) and Nutrition Assistance targeting vulnerable individuals in Yobe and Adamawa communities.

On a monthly basis, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in partnership with Centre for Community Development and Research Network carries out General Food Distribution (GFD) program in Madagali LGA, Adamawa state and across Gulani, Gujba and Bade LGAs of Yobe state. The food items distributed includes; Sorghum, Beans, corn-soy blend plus (CSB+), Vegetable oil, and Salt among others.

The General food distribution is aimed at supporting internally displaced Persons (IDPs) and Vulnerable host community members, towards ensuring that targeted vulnerable conflict-affected population are able to meet their basic food and nutrition requirements.

Last month, Center for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN) distributed food items to affected families in targeted communities across Yobe and Adamawa from February 20 to 28 respectively, reaching close to an estimated 4000 households.

This intervention is helping to save lives and building resilience of affected communities whose means of sustenance has been cut off as a result of the insurgency which affected most part of the Nigerian Northeast.
